World's Ugliest Dog Contest 2016



PETALUMA, CALIF.—A 17-year-old Chinese crested chihuahua with legs bowed out like a frog and an oozing sore is the winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog contest. [thestar.com]

Sweepie Rambo took home the title at annual Petaluma’s World’s Ugliest Dog contest Friday night after topping 15 other malformed pooches. [thestar.com]

Three Killed in Woodland Hills Crash



According to reports, 3 people were killed and 2 more were injured in a four-vehicle deadly crash in Woodland Hills on Saturday night, said police officials.

After the crash, Ventura Boulevard is now closed in both directions De Soto to Paralta avenues for crash's investigation by the police and forensic officials.

Two people were trapped inside when the vehicles caught fire after two vehicles collided with two parked vehicles in the 20900 block of Ventura Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

According to reports, the crash was reported about 9.30 pm.




People nearby used fire extinguishers and buckets of water to calm down the fires until firefighters arrived at the crash scene.

Three people suffered critical injuries and were rushed to hospital but eventually died after the crash, officials said.

Two people were critically injured and were sent for medical attention in a serious condition after the crash. While three people denied medical assistance. 

IIFA Awards 2016 Results



The IIFA 2016 has finally concluded in Madrid, Spain after its four-day gala which began on 23rd June with over 150 film celebrities and almost 20,000 fans. The results have been announced for the most anticipated awards in Indian Film Industry.

On the eve of IIFA Awards 2016, Deepika Padukone on winning the Best Actress for her film 'Piku', she said that "I wish I had won for 'Bajirao Mastani' as well along with 'Piku'.

Makayla Stark named as Miss South Carolina 2016



Makayla Stark, a 17-year-old from Inman and Miss Clemson Teen, was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen 2016 at Township Auditorium in Columbia on Friday.


Miss South Carolina will be crowned on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the Township Auditorium.



She will now be competing in America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in August being held in Orlando, Florida.

Courtney Pelot named as Miss Wisconsin 2016



Miss Green Bay Area Courtney Pelot won the title of Miss Wisconsin 2016 at Saturday nights' finals at Alberta Kimball Auditorium, adjacent to Oshkosh West High School in Wisconsin.


"I can't even explain it... I am so excited," said Courtney Pelot.

"This is my first year competing at state. I had competed (locally) two years before. (Miss Green Bay Area) is the first local title I've ever won, so I can't believe that I won the state title and am going to Miss America." [jsonline.com]





Miss Wisconsin 2016 Courtney Pelot will now spend serving her chosen platform for an year and the Children's Miracle Network. She will be promoting science, technology, engineering and math education in there.

Pelot will also get the chance to represent her state Wisconsin in the Miss America competition, set to begin from Sept. 6 till 11 in Atlantic City this year.

Brexit will not affect Game of Thrones Production - Says HBO



According to a statement released by HBO, after the rumors that EU will not provide funds for the production of all time highly anticipated series Game of Thrones, HBO clarifies that the series no longer receives financial support from EU for the past few seasons.


The speculations raised after UK's EU referendum and its outcome to leave EU.


Fans were worried about the effect of  Brexit on the production of Game of Thrones.


HBO confirms that Brexit will not affect the filming of the highly anticipated series, which is being filmed in Northern Ireland.




"We do not anticipate that the result of the EU referendum will have any material effect on HBO producing Game of Thrones," said HBO in a statement release


HBO's most watched series had almost 20 million viewers per episode last season.


The series, which is now in its 6th season, has a budget of $10m (£7m) per episode, according to Entertainment Weekly.


-The finale episode of the 6th series will be aired on Sky Atlantic on Monday at 9pm.

The UK's EU referendum - Tears, fears and David's resignation



A referendum was held in UK on Thursday, June 23, voting whether to leave or remain in the European Union bloc.

As over 52 percent of the Britons voted to 'leave' EU on Thursday.

Leave won the referendum, while UK become the first European country to leave the European Union bloc.




British Prime Minister David Cameron, who was against Brexit, announced his resignation on Friday following the Brexit win, before he formally steps down in October. 


UK markets shuddered following the Brexit vote and pound sterling plunged down to 31-year low falling by 2-percent.


That left UK with two years to negotiate terms of exit from the EU bloc. As Brexit will greatly affect UK's political stability, economy, immigration policy and pound sterling market.

It is to be mentioned here that UK joined EU in 1973. 


There are 28 countries within the European Union including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 


While UK left EU in 2016 after Brexit vote.
